Bamboo grows from healthy ROOTS

Relational Access and Empowerment

Coming alongside missional leaders to make space to model discipleship and leadership with Jesus

We believe in the power of joyful, loving connection with those who are a step ahead of us to bring about transformational growth in the lives of women, men and children. We are committed to fostering environments for belonging, care, mutual discovery, opportunities to fail forward, and empowerment and blessing. Coming alongside missional leaders to make space to model discipleship and leadership with Jesus. Every other aspect of our ROOTS in the Bamboo Initiative flows from this core conviction.

Orientation as Missionaries

Helping missional leaders understand themselves and their vocation as missionaries

Too often passionate and fruitful workers get stuck, and movements are stalled, when they think of themselves simply as chaplains to a church community. Rather, we perceive the whole city as our parish and live and serve accordingly. We help missional leaders understand themselves and their vocation as missionaries.

Ongoing Spiritual Companionship

Encouraging missional leaders towards fruitful longevity through coaching, care and spiritual direction

Missional leadership is hard, lonely labor. Some aspects of this we cannot change, yet we can come alongside leaders in bearing their burdens and helping them yoke effectively with Jesus. Missional leaders and the communities they lead are more likely to thrive as this happens. In particular, we encourage missional leaders towards fruitful longevity.

Training in Disciple Multiplication

Training missional leaders in the way of Jesus and the scriptures

Disciple multiplication is at the heart of Jesus’ invitation to all disciples and to us entrusted with leadership in kingdom communities. We’re committed to identifying and using tools and processes with a demonstrated track record of fruitfulness in forming disciple-making disciples that are embodying the character the practices of Jesus. Further, we’re committed to training missional leaders in best practices for multiplying disciples, leaders and communities.

Support for Faithfulness in Commitments

Systems of support and accountability to help missional leaders practice faithfulness to their vocational commitment

Vocational missional leadership is challenging for anyone. It’s a “long obedience in the same direction.” We intentionally come alongside leaders, in cohorts where appropriate, to cultivate in them fruitful longevity over the course of a lifetime.
